‘Dr. Faustus’, one of the most well known classics, was written by one of the most famous renaissance playwrights and Shakespeare contemporaries, Christopher Marlowe over four hundred years ago. Doctor Faustus, a well-respected German scholar, is dissatisfied with traditional forms of knowledge and decides he wants to practice magic. He summons up a devil by the name of Mephistophilis and sells his soul to Lucifer in exchange of 24 years of service to Mephistopholis so he may practice evil arts. This is a tale that portrays the battle between good and evil, rights and wrongs.

The six actors play nearly thirty characters through an exploration of voice and body, a theatrical experience that combines sound, physical theatre and abstract imagery, a mixture of influences from Eastern and Western voice and physical practices. This is a unique and innovative interpretation of ‘Dr. Faustus’.

‘Dr. Faustus’ is a text based performance. The text serves as the main blueprint, and performers ‘physicalise’ and vocalise the images contained within the text.
