  • Theory Studies

Units in the theory program introduce you to way of understanding and presenting your own arts practice within contemporary culture. In years one and two of the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts the theory program forms a core part of your study. You may continue theory into your third year, if you are planning further study at Honours level, or you may choose to study for a theory major. Core units and a variety of electives introduce you to the writing, research, interpretive and professional practice skills needed for careers in the visual arts, theatre and music. Where possible, the theory program is structured around current exhibitions and performances.

Units offered in Theory and History Studies are:

  • FFA102 Introduction to Cultural Practices
  • FFA138 Background to Contemporary Art and Design
  • FFA170 Background to Western Theatre
