We are housed in the Academy of the Arts, an award-winning, world class facility located on a busy 17-hectare inner city cultural precinct comprising visual arts studios, galleries, performance spaces, theatres, a museum and specialist furniture, environmental, architecture and design workshops.

The School’s neighbors on the Inveresk cultural precinct are the School of Architecture and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, which has impressive collections in art craft, design and cultural heritage. Your study, research and professional development can be enriched through our special professional association with the QVMAG.

The School’s international university exchange agreements provide you with the opportunity to spend one semester studying at a partner institution in Asia, North America or Europe.

Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs are structured so that you can concentrate on one discipline or take advantage of the exciting cross-disciplinary opportunities between visual arts, contemporary music and theatre.

The Academy of the Arts facilities are modern, comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. There is provision for after-hours use of specialist areas throughout the year. Our teaching staff are committed to providing you with challenging, innovative and rewarding study programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels that help position you for a future career in the arts professions.

We are strongly committed to developing your unique creative intelligence.

Peter Hammond,
Acting Head of School.
